An active pattern will continue to bring heavy to excessive rainfall and flash flooding threats to the Midwest and Ohio Valley over the next couple of days. Dangerous heat continues across the central/southern Plains and Southeast U.S. into next week. About CP

The Office of Central Processing (CP) oversees the NWS Central Processing portfolio and budget, playing a pivotal role in maintaining an efficient enterprise architecture for processing systems. With a focus on meeting both current and future NWS mission requirements, such as the critical AWIPS software, CP adopts a "systems of systems" approach. This entails establishing a robust national and regional IT infrastructure, managing data flow from observing systems to product generation, all while prioritizing cost-effectiveness. Collaboration with other NWS portfolios is key, ensuring seamless operations and minimizing operating costs.
