Areas of Severe Thunderstorms, Excessive Rainfall, and Extreme Heat Wednesday

In the Upper Midwest, heavy to excessive rain may bring flash and urban flooding through Wednesday. Scattered severe thunderstorms capable of large hail and damaging wind gusts are possible from the central High Plains into the Upper Midwest Wednesday. December was kind of a mixed bag: two weeks cold & snowy, sometimes mild & rainy, but rarely sunny. Grand Rapids had 9% of possible sunshine. The lowest December amount recorded was 7% and the average is 20%. Relative to normal, it was our coolest month since April.
