Much Cooler by Friday Across the Eastern Third of the Nation; Unusually Warm in Parts of California

Much cooler temperatures will arrive in the Upper Mississippi Valley and Plains, and then over the eastern U.S. through Friday. Meanwhile, much above average temperatures will persist from the Southwest and into California, along with continued fire weather threats.
