Deadline for 2020 student volunteer applications: Friday, February 21, 2020

The student volunteer position is open to any student (undergraduate or graduate) that is interested in the atmospheric sciences.  The students will work along side operational forecasters during the summer to gain valuable experience as well as a project tailored to the student's interest.  The volunteers will get to experience the everyday life of a meteorologist in the NWS while working alongside all members of the forecast office staff.

This is an unpaid position (but the experience you acquire will be invaluable!)

Additional Notes

Students are encouraged, but not required, to work with their college or university program to acquire class credit for their experience.

If there are more students than available volunteer slots, informal interviews may be conducted by WFO management to determine who is selected.

Selections will likely be made by early to mid March. Applicants will be notified of their application status.

For questions about the NWS Nashville student volunteer program or the application process, please contact our Science and Operations Officer, Dan Hawblitzel, at daniel.hawblitzel@noaa.gov or 615-754-8500 ext. 224.
