Fire Weather Concerns in the South-Central U.S.; Heavy Precipitation in Northern California and the Great Lakes

Strong winds and dry conditions will promote elevated to critical fire weather conditions across southeast Colorado into the southern Plains and extending into the Ozarks. An atmospheric river will bring heavy rain and a flash flood threat to northern California and heavy mountain snow in the Cascades and Northern Rockies. Dan Muller is the Director of the NWS International Affairs Office (IAO) and has served in this role since December 2023.

Dan previously served as the IAO Deputy Director since 2015, and carried the responsibilities for strategic management of NWS bilateral relationships and International Crosscut support for development of the NWS Annual Operating Plan.

Dan has been with NOAA in a variety of positions since 2005. He began his career as a Presidential Management Fellow in the NESDIS International Affairs Division, and he performed assignments as the Program Coordination Officer for NESDIS in 2009, as a Congressional Liaison in the NOAA Office of Legislative Affairs in 2011, and as a Policy Advisor for NOAA’s Assistant Secretary for Environmental Observation and Prediction in 2015.
