UPPER MISSOURI BASIN

PRECIPITATION WAS MAINLY BELOW AVERAGE ACROSS THE UPPER MISSOURI
BASIN. BASIN PRECIPITATION SUMMARIES FOR THE MISSOURI BASIN INCLUDE:
MILK ST. MARY, 70 PERCENT; MILK CANADA, 84 PERCENT; LOWER MILK, 57
PERCENT; ABOVE TOSTON, 130 PERCENT; TOSTON TO FT. PECK, 76 PERCENT.

OF THE FOUR MAJOR IRRIGATION RESERVOIRS IN MONTANA: LIMA RESERVOIR
HAD 112 PERCENT AVERAGE STORAGE, CLARK CANYON WAS HOLDING 112 PERCENT OF
AVERAGE WATER, GIBSON RESERVOIR HAD 105 PERCENT OF AVERAGE STORED
WATER, AND FRESNO RESERVOIR HAD 76 PERCENT OF AVERAGE STORED WATER.
THE MAJOR HYDROELECTRIC RESERVOIRS IN MONTANA (CANYON FERRY AND
FORT PECK) HAD MONTHEND STORAGE IN THE AVERAGE TO BELOW AVERAGE
RANGE; 104 AND 73 PERCENT OF AVERAGE WATER, RESPECTIVELY.

AS INDICATED BY THE U.S. GEOLOGICAL LONG TERM GAGING STATIONS,
THE MARIAS RIVER NEAR SHELBY, MONTANA HAD AN ESTIMATED 76 PERCENT
OF AVERAGE RUNOFF IN JUNE.

 

YELLOWSTONE BASIN


PRECIPITATION DURING THE MONTH OF JUNE WAS ABOUT 213 PERCENT OF
AVERAGE IN THE WIND RIVER BASIN ABOVE BOYSEN RESERVOIR, 141 PERCENT
OF AVERAGE IN THE UPPER YELLOWSTONE BASIN, 175 PERCENT OF AVERAGE
IN THE BIGHORN BASIN, AND 132 PERCENT OF AVERAGE IN THE LITTLE
BIGHORN BASINS-UPPER TONGUE BASINS, 100 PERCENT OF AVERAGE IN THE
POWDER RIVER BASIN, AND 109 PERCENT OF AVERAGE IN THE LOWER
YELLOWSTONE BASIN.

MONTHEND STORAGE WAS 114 PERCENT OF AVERAGE AT BIGHORN RESERVOIR ON
THE WYOMING/MONTANA BORDER. MONTHEND STORAGE WAS NOT REPORTED AT
BOYSEN RESERVOIR OR AT BUFFALO BILL RESERVOIR IN WYOMING.

RUNOFF DURING JUNE 2009 IN THE YELLOWSTONE RIVER WAS AVERAGE AT BOTH
CORWIN SPRINGS AND BILLINGS, MONTANA.

 

PLATTE BASIN

PRECIPITATION DURING JUNE IN THE PLATTE BASIN WAS ABOVE
AVERAGE. JUNE PRECIPITATION IN THE NORTH PLATTE BASIN
ABOVE SEMINOE RESERVOIR WAS 199 PERCENT OF AVERAGE. IN THE
NORTH PLATTE BASIN BETWEEN SEMINOE RESERVOIR AND GUERNSY
RESERVOIR PRECIPITATION WAS 187 PERCENT OF AVERAGE. THE NORTH
PLATTE BASIN BELOW GUERNSY RESERVOIR HAD 253 PERCENT OF AVERAGE
PRECIPITATION. THE HIGH ELEVATIONS OF THE SOUTH PLATTE BASIN HAD
163 PERCENT OF AVERAGE JUNE PRECIPITATION WHEREAS THE PLAINS
HAD 187 PERCENT OF AVERAGE PRECIPITATION.

STORED WATER IN THE SOUTH PLATTE BASIN STORED WATER WAS 97 PERCENT
OF AVERAGE.
