UPPER MISSOURI BASIN

JULY PRECIPITATION WAS ABOVE TO NEAR AVERAGE ACROSS THE UPPER MISSOURI
BASIN. BASIN PRECIPITATION SUMMARIES FOR THE MISSOURI BASIN INCLUDE:
MILK ST. MARY, 198 PERCENT; MILK CANADA, 85 PERCENT; LOWER MILK, 123
PERCENT; ABOVE TOSTON, 112 PERCENT; TOSTON TO FT. PECK, 131 PERCENT.

OF THE FOUR MAJOR IRRIGATION RESERVOIRS IN MONTANA: LIMA RESERVOIR
HAD 116 PERCENT AVERAGE STORAGE, CLARK CANYON WAS HOLDING 117 PERCENT
OF AVERAGE WATER, GIBSON RESERVOIR HAD 78 PERCENT OF AVERAGE STORED
WATER, AND FRESNO RESERVOIR HAD 84 PERCENT OF AVERAGE STORED WATER.
THE MAJOR HYDROELECTRIC RESERVOIRS IN MONTANA (CANYON FERRY AND
FORT PECK) HAD MONTHEND STORAGE IN THE AVERAGE TO BELOW AVERAGE
RANGE; 103 AND 77 PERCENT OF AVERAGE WATER, RESPECTIVELY.

AS INDICATED BY THE U.S. GEOLOGICAL LONG TERM GAGING STATIONS,
THE MARIAS RIVER NEAR SHELBY, MONTANA HAD AN ESTIMATED 71 PERCENT
OF AVERAGE RUNOFF IN JULY.

 

YELLOWSTONE BASIN

PRECIPITATION DURING THE MONTH OF JULY WAS ABOUT 130 PERCENT OF
AVERAGE IN THE WIND RIVER BASIN ABOVE BOYSEN RESERVOIR, 97 PERCENT
OF AVERAGE IN THE UPPER YELLOWSTONE BASIN, 98 PERCENT OF AVERAGE
IN THE BIGHORN BASIN, 99 PERCENT OF AVERAGE IN THE LITTLE BIGHORN-
-UPPER TONGUE BASINS, 124 PERCENT OF AVERAGE IN THE POWDER RIVER
BASIN, AND 111 PERCENT OF AVERAGE IN THE LOWER YELLOWSTONE BASIN.

MONTHEND STORAGE WAS 109 PERCENT OF AVERAGE AT BIGHORN RESERVOIR ON
THE WYOMING/MONTANA BORDER. MONTHEND STORAGE WAS 94 PERCENT OF AVERAGE
IN BOYSEN RESERVOIR ON THE WIND RIVER, AND 111 PERCENT OF AVERAGE IN
BUFFALO BILL RESERVOIR ON THE SHOSHONE RIVER IN WYOMING.

RUNOFF DURING JULY, 2009 IN THE YELLOWSTONE RIVER WAS 119 PERCENT OF
AVERAGE AT CORWIN SPRINGS 105 PERCENT OF AVERAGE AT BILLINGS, MONTANA.

 

PLATTE BASIN


PRECIPITATION DURING JULY IN THE PLATTE BASIN WAS AVERAGE TO
ABOVE AVERAGE. JULY PRECIPITATION IN THE NORTH PLATTE BASIN
ABOVE SEMINOE RESERVOIR WAS 95 PERCENT OF AVERAGE. IN THE
NORTH PLATTE BASIN BETWEEN SEMINOE RESERVOIR AND GUERNSY
RESERVOIR PRECIPITATION WAS 127 PERCENT OF AVERAGE. THE NORTH
PLATTE BASIN BELOW GUERNSY RESERVOIR HAD 125 PERCENT OF AVERAGE
PRECIPITATION. THE HIGH ELEVATIONS OF THE SOUTH PLATTE BASIN HAD
133 PERCENT OF AVERAGE JULY PRECIPITATION WHEREAS THE PLAINS
HAD 139 PERCENT OF AVERAGE PRECIPITATION.

STORED WATER IN THE NORTH PLATTE BASIN STORED WATER WAS 91 PERCENT
OF AVERAGE. STORED WATER IN THE SOUTH PLATTE BASIN STORED WATER WAS
113 PERCENT OF AVERAGE.
