Widespread showers and thunderstorms are expected today. A few brief strong to marginally severe storms will be possible with large hail and locally damaging winds the primary concerns. Additionally the risk for locally heavy rainfall and flooding will increase through the day.
A marginal risk for severe thunderstorms will continue on Sunday. Storms may be ongoing early Sunday with additional development through the day. Hail up to half dollar size hail and damaging winds around 60 mph will be the main severe weather threats. Heavy rain and potential flooding will also be a concern.
Thunderstorms are expected to develop across central Oklahoma late Monday afternoon and spread into eastern Oklahoma during the evening. Storms will continue eastward through northwest Arkansas Monday night. Severe weather is expected with these storms including the potential for tornadoes, large hail, and locally damaging winds. Continue to monitor reliable sources of weather information through the weekend for updates to timing and expected hazards.
Multiple rounds of rainfall are expected today through Sunday afternoon, which could lead to flash flooding and mainstem river flooding given the already saturated grounds. A Flood Watch runs from 7 AM Saturday to 7 PM Sunday for eastern Oklahoma and northwest and west central Arkansas.
