Extreme Fire Weather Concerns; Severe Thunderstorms from the Plains to Mississippi Valley

Extremely critical fire weather concerns for portions of the southern High Plans as strong wind and very dry conditions could result in rapid spread of any fires. Meanwhile, severe thunderstorms are expected once again across areas of the Central and Southern Plains, then spreading in the Mississippi Valley regions on Monday. For the period from January through March, Southwest Michigan has a between 33% to 40% chance above normal temperatures, and a greater than 40% chance of above normal precipitation. This means the warmer period of temperature will prevail over the colder periods of temperature.  There is a overall trend for wetter than normal precipitation over the past 10 years for Southwest Lower Michigan during this time period. There has been no significant trend in the temperature for this period in the past 10 years.
