Preliminary Overview

A very strong low pressure system resulted in two rounds of storms on Thursday, May 15th, 2025 across the Upper Midwest. Based on initial photo and damage reports, we know several tornadoes and very large hail up to 4 inches in diameter were reported with the storms that occurred during the afternoon.

 

We have survey crews investigating damage in western Wisconsin, including in St. Croix, Dunn, and Barron counties. We also have received photo and damage reports from the line of storms that moved through western Minnesota, including in Chippewa, Swift, and western Stearns counties.
