Severe Weather and Flooding Threats for the Central U.S.; Fire Weather Concerns for the Western U.S.

Severe weather and flooding threats will continue for portions of the central U.S. through Thursday, focused from the central High Plains to the Mid-Mississippi Valley. Hot and dry conditions will fuel fire weather concerns for the Intermountain West, and dry thunderstorms may spark additional wildfires.   JEFFERSON PARISH IN SOUTHEAST LOUISIANA

* UNTIL 530 PM CDT

* AT 1126 AM CDT...FLASH FLOODING WAS RAPIDLY BECOMING MORE 
WIDESPREAD OVER JEFFERSON PARISH AS DANGEROUS HURRICANE KATRINA 
MOVES NORTHEAST OF THE AREA.  THIS IS A VERY LIFE THREATENING 
SITUATION.  

A FLASH FLOOD WARNING MEANS THAT FLOODING IS IMMINENT OR OCCURRING. 
IF YOU ARE IN THE WARNING AREA MOVE TO HIGHER GROUND IMMEDIATELY. 
RESIDENTS LIVING ALONG STREAMS AND CREEKS SHOULD TAKE IMMEDIATE 
PRECAUTIONS TO PROTECT LIFE AND PROPERTY. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO CROSS
