    PASCAGOULA AND ESCATAWPA RIVERS IN JACKSON COUNTY FROM LATE
    ON SEPT 30 THROUGH OCT 2, 1998. MANY HOUSES WERE FLOODED
    AND RESIDENTS WERE EVACUATED.

   THE TCHOUTACABOUFFA RIVER AT D IBERBVILLE MS SET A RECORD CREST
   OF 19.00 FT AT 0200 UTC ON SEP 30, 1998

G. TORNADOES...NONE KNOWN AT THIS TIME.

H. STORM EFFECTS
    PLAQUEMINES PARISH..WIND DAMAGE WAS MINOR EXCEPT FOR ISOLATED
    AREAS OF MODERATE DAMAGE.  SIGNIFICANT STORM SURGE FLOODING
    OUTSIDE OF HURRICANE PROTECTION LEVEES. LARGE AMOUNT OF
    DEBRIS AND SILT CARRIED BY STORM SURGE.

    ST BERNARD...WIND DAMAGE MOSTLY MINOR. SIGNIFICANT STORM SURGE
    FLOODING OUTSIDE OF HURRICANE PROTECTION LEVEES.

    ORLEANS PARISH....WIND DAMAGE MAINLY TO TREES AND TREE LIMBS.
    CONSIDERABLE STORM SURGE FLOODING OUTSIDE OF HURRICANE
    PROTECTION LEVEES WITH A LARGE NUMBER OF FISHING CAMPS DAMAGED
    OR DESTROYED ALONG LAKE PONTCHARTRAIN.

    HANCOCK COUNTY...WIND DAMAGE TO TREES AND SOME COMMERCIAL
    SIGNS.  WIND DAMAGE IN NORTH PORTION OF COUNTY MORE EXTENSIVE
    THAN SOUTH PORTION.

    HARRISON COUNTY...WIND DAMAGE TO TREES...POWER LINES, COMMERCIAL
    AND HIGHWAY SIGNS, TRAFFIC LIGHTS. SOME ROOFS DAMAGE
    REPORTED. AS IN HANCOCK COUNTY...SOME OF THE GREATER WIND
    DAMAGE OCCURRED IN THE NORTH PART OF THE COUNTY.

    JACKSON COUNTY...CONSIDERABLE WIND DAMAGE REPORTED ACROSS THE
    COUNTY. SOME BUILDINGS HAD CONSIDERABLE ROOF DAMAGE AND A FEW
    MOBILE HOMES DAMAGED OR OVERTURNED. SIGNIFICANT STORM SURGE
    FLOODING ALONG COASTAL AREA.

THE INFORMATION CONTAINED IN THIS REPORT IS PRELIMINARY. SOME
DATA MAY BE REVISED OR DELETED...AND ADDITIONAL DATA MAY BE
INCLUDED BEFORE THE FINAL REPORT ON HURRICANE GEORGES IS RELEASED.
