Thunderstorms and Heavy Rains Across Portions of the Central and Eastern US; Heat Expands to Portions of the East and West

Widespread showers and thunderstorms, some severe, may produce heavy downpours and flash flooding across much of the eastern and central U.S. Dangerous heat will continue in the Pacific Northwest and expand across portions of the East. Severe Weather/Storm Spotter - Training Sessions 

No in person classes are currently scheduled.

SkyWarn training sessions normally last between one and two hours. During the class, basics of severe weather identification and how to report severe weather are discussed. Normally SkyWarn sessions are held in cooperation with the local emergency management office. If you are interested in becoming a Severe Storm Spotter and want to receive SkyWarn training, contact the local emergency management office or contact our Warning Coordination Meteorologist, at the National Weather Service Office in Slidell by email sr-lix.webmaster@noaa.gov or phone 985-649-0357 x 223.
