Scattered severe thunderstorms are expected to develop across portions of the central and northern High Plains Sunday afternoon and linger into Sunday evening. Scattered showers and isolated non-severe thunderstorms are expected to develop across southwest MT and central ID this afternoon, tracking northeast and across portions of central MT this evening and overnight. In addition to brief precipitation, isolated lightning, and wind gusts up to 40 mph are possible with some cells.
High winds are becoming increasingly likely early next week, especially along the Rocky Mountain Front on Tuesday. Travelers, especially those in high profile vehicles, should be prepared for the strong cross winds and considerate alternate routes. Rough waters are likely for those recreating on area waterways.

A significant warmup is likely late next week into next weekend as upper level high pressure strengthens across the interior Western US. While above average temperatures are likely (average temperatures are in the low 70s) there is still some uncertainty in just how warm.
