Late January Extreme Cold; Watching for Another East Coast Storm Threat This Weekend

Well below normal temperatures will continue for the eastern half of the Lower 48 this week. Another blast of arctic air will spread from the Plains through the East/Southeast Friday into Saturday with more record lows expected even into Florida.   • A color coded Fire Weather Matrix will show up in the next tab. Some offices have created custom thresholds for the matrix. Otherwise, "default" parameters will be used. Note: This information covers the area on the map within the "green square".
  • The final tab has a 3 hourly point forecast matrix for the next 6 days. Note: This information covers the area on the map within the "green square".
  • Sometimes, a second click is required to get the map to react.
