Severe Weather and Flooding Threats for the Central U.S.; Fire Weather Concerns for the Western U.S.

Severe weather and flooding threats will continue for portions of the central U.S. Rounds of heavy rainfall may cause impactful flash flooding in parts of southern Kansas and Missouri. Hot and dry conditions will fuel fire weather concerns for the Intermountain West, and dry thunderstorms may spark additional wildfires.  Program Support Division (PSD)

                                                           

The Western Region Program Support Division (PSD) provides an avenue for field offices to carry out the NWS Strategic Plan objectives. PSD supports the efforts of field offices and other divisions to provide environmental decision support by:

  • Providing information, structure, prioritization, and guidance to enable WR offices to meet stakeholder requirements
  • Removing barriers and impediments to progress
  • Fostering new services and innovation to move the agency forward
  • Taking a leadership role in workgroups to ensure field offices are provided with the highest level of support and responsiveness
  • Evaluating field performance in meeting the NWS Strategic Plan objectives
  • Ensuring field needs are met through appropriate training and tools
  • Anticipating future direction and preparing the field for upcoming changes
