Severe Thunderstorms and Excessive Rainfall in the Southern Plains Today

Heavy to excessive rainfall may produce additional flash flooding today across parts of the southern Plains where the greatest risk is along the Red River Valley into western Arkansas. Scattered severe thunderstorms are possible today from north central Texas into the ArkLaTex Region. Program Support Division (PSD)

The Western Region Program Support Division (PSD) provides an avenue for field offices to carry out the NWS Strategic Plan objectives. PSD supports the efforts of field offices and other divisions to provide environmental decision support by:

Providing information, structure, prioritization, and guidance to enable WR offices to meet stakeholder requirements

Removing barriers and impediments to progress

Fostering new services and innovation to move the agency forward

Taking a leadership role in workgroups to ensure field offices are provided with the highest level of support and responsiveness

Evaluating field performance in meeting the NWS Strategic Plan objectives

Ensuring field needs are met through appropriate training and tools

Anticipating future direction and preparing the field for upcoming changes
