Showers and Storms continue across the East; Heat, Critical Fire Weather, Drought, and Poor Air Quality continues in the West

A series of fronts will focus locally heavy showers and storms across portions of the central and eastern U.S. through the end of the workweek. Dangerous to extreme heat continues across the Southwest U.S., eventually spreading eastward over the weekend into early next week. Systems and Facilities Division (SFD)

The Systems and Facilities Division (SFD) manages the operations and maintenance of the various systems and facilities which support the NWS Western Region weather enterprise. Examples include Doppler Radar (WSR-88D), Automated Surface Observing Systems (ASOS), NOAA Weather Radio (NWR), Advanced Weather Interactive Processing System (AWIPS), local and wide area networks, buildings, grounds, and towers, just to name a few.
