Severe Storms and Heavy Rain in Texas; Record Heat Along the East Coast

Scattered severe storms with large hail, isolated severe gusts, and localized flooding are expected across parts of west Texas. Isolated flash flooding is also possible in the central Gulf coast. An early season heat wave will continue to impact the eastern U.S. today, before isolated severe storms move across the central Appalachians into the Mid-Atlantic and far southern New England. Systems and Facilities Division (SFD)

The Systems and Facilities Division (SFD) manages the operations and maintenance of the various systems and facilities which support the NWS Western Region weather enterprise. Examples include Doppler Radar (WSR-88D), Automated Surface Observing Systems (ASOS), NOAA Weather Radio (NWR), Advanced Weather Interactive Processing System (AWIPS), local and wide area networks, buildings, grounds, and towers, just to name a few.
