Tropical system in the Gulf expected to gradually strengthen the next couple of days off the Florida Panhandle and Alabama coasts. Instances of flash flooding will be possible through Thursday along the eastern and central Gulf Coast. The Systems and Facilities Division (SFD) manages the operations and maintenance of the various systems and facilities which support the NWS Western Region weather enterprise. Examples include Doppler Radar (WSR-88D), Automated Surface Observing Systems (ASOS), NOAA Weather Radio (NWR), Advanced Weather Interactive Processing System (AWIPS), local and wide area networks, buildings, grounds, and towers, just to name a few.
