Hot Temperatures, Excessive Rainfall, and Severe Thunderstorms in the Eastern U.S.

Hot temperatures are expected again today along the Mid-Atlantic, Southeast, and lower Mississippi Valley. Heavy to excessive rainfall from thunderstorms today in parts of the Midwest to the Mid-Atlantic regions may bring areas of flooding. Systems and Facilities Division (SFD)

The Systems and Facilities Division (SFD) manages the operations and maintenance of the various systems and facilities which support the NWS Western Region weather enterprise. Examples include Doppler Radar (WSR-88D), Automated Surface Observing Systems (ASOS), NOAA Weather Radio (NWR), Advanced Weather Interactive Processing System (AWIPS), local and wide area networks, buildings, grounds, and towers, just to name a few.
