Hot and humid temperatures are expected this afternoon as heat index values climb up to 105. A Heat Advisory is in effect for much of the area through 8 pm. Stay hydrated and limit outdoor activities if possible!

Severe storms are then possible this evening. Damaging winds are the primary threat, but an isolated tornado cannot be ruled out, mainly north of I-90.

 

Heat

  • What: Heat Index Values up to 105 Expected
  • Timing: Noon to 8 pm
  • Impacts: Dangerous heat! Heat related illnesses can occur in as little as 30 minutes. Children, pets and the elderly as especially susceptible to the heat
  • ACTION: avoid prolonged exposure to the heat - postpone or reschedule outdoor activities. Stay hydrated

Severe Weather

  • What: Severe weather possible this evening. Damaging winds are the primary threat, but an isolated tornado cannot be ruled out. 
  • Timing: 6 pm to Midnight
  • Impacts: Winds could damage trees, down power lines. 
  • ACTION: stay weather aware! Take shelter when storms approach
