Details:

  1. 6/16/1973:  Brief touchdown on the north edge of Athens.
  2. 5/9/1995:  This tornado had touched down in far northern Sangamon County east of Salisbury.  It moved northeast, and clipped a portion of Menard County south of Athens, at the Brookwood Mills subdivison.  Here it destroyed 1 home and damaged 13 others.  After moving back into Sangamon County, it again entered Menard County south of Fancy Prairie, before continuing into southwest Logan County.  Total Menard County damage was $1 million.
  3. 7/28/1996:  Brief touchdown in a field 2 miles south of Athens.
  4. 5/12/1998:  Brief touchdown in a field 2 miles east of Petersburg.
  5. 4/8/1999:  This tornado first touched down near Sinclair, in northeast Morgan County.  It traveled through Ashland, in extreme southeast Cass County, before entering Menard County 4 miles southwest of Tallula.  It was on the ground for 1 mile in Menard County.
  6. 4/2/2006:  Brief touchdown in Greenview, causing minor house damage.
  7. 12/31/2010:  This strong tornado touched down on New Year's Eve on the west side of Lake Petersburg, tracking northeast over the lake and across Sunny Acres Rd, before lifting near the intersection of Tice Rd and state highway 123. A total of 29 homes were significantly damaged, 4 of which were unrepairable. Two barns were destroyed, and nearly 100 homes and a nursing home had minor damage. One serious injury occurred when a tree limb crushed a car, trapping the occupant.
  8. 04/15/2011:  Touched down 1 miles northeast of Athens, damaging a house.
  9. 04/15/2011:  Touched down 3 miles northeast of Athens, tracking north for about 1.7 miles.  Severe damage was casued to a home, and a garage was destroyed.
  10. 6/7/2015:  Brief touchdown 8 miles east of Petersburg, knocking down several trees and damaging an old barn. An anemometer at the residence where the damage occurred measured a peak wind gust of 77 mph.
  11. 5/22/2019:  This tornado moved into far southeast Menard County, about 1.5 miles south-southeast of Fancy Prairie, on its path from Sangamon County to  Logan County.
