Active Pattern for the Center of the Nation

Critical fire weather conditions, severe thunderstorms capable of producing severe wind gusts, large hail, strong tornadoes and heavy rainfall remain on tap for the central U.S. this evening. Flash flooding is also possible for portions of the Plains and Mississippi Valley. Very large hail up to 3 inches in diameter will be possible this evening across western Kansas. Read More >

The Miami WSR-88D Doppler Radar (KAMX) will be out of service the
week of December 4th, 2016 for a Signal Processor Upgrade. This
upgrade is part of the Service Life Extension Program for WSR-88D
Doppler Radars being completed across the nation.

While KAMX is down for this upgrade, neighboring radars including
the Key West WSR-88D (KBYX), Tampa Bay WSR-88D (KTBW), and Melbourne
WSR-88D (KMLB) will be available to cover southern Florida.
Metropolitan South Florida will also be afforded additional coverage
from FAA Terminal Doppler Radars located at Miami (TMIA), Fort
Lauderdale (TFLL), and West Palm Beach (TPBI).
