Severe Thunderstorm and Tropical Storm Bertha Impacts

Numerous severe thunderstorms are expected across a broad region from the Ohio Valley to the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast States today into tonight. Swaths of damaging wind gusts are expected and some tornadoes are possible. Bertha is expected to bring tropical storm conditions to portions of the Gulf Coast from the Florida Panhandle westward to southeastern Louisiana later today and Wednesday. Read More >

Hot temperatures are forecast today with heat index values approaching 105 across much of the Big Country. A Heat Advisory is in effect through 8 PM. Additional Heat Advisories in our area and Extreme Heat Warnings will be in effect tomorrow during the afternoon and evening hours.
Very hot temperatures are forecast through the weekend. Triple digit temperatures and heat index (how hot it feels) values are expected to reach as high as 105°F to 110°F across portions of the Big Country, Heartland, & Concho Valley during this timeframe.
With the upcoming Hot weather this week, there comes an increase in the potential for heat related impacts and injuries. Please practice heat safety and protect yourself against heat related injuries and impacts.
Tropical Storm Bertha is forecast to track northwest into the northern Gulf today, before moving west along the northern Gulf coast Wednesday through Friday and weakening into a Tropical Depression Friday and into the weekend. However, its track and intensity remain highly uncertain Wednesday and beyond due to potential land interaction. There are no impacts expected for West Central Texas at this time, but we will continue to monitor the situation and update accordingly throughout the week.
