Multiple rounds of strong to severe thunderstorms impacted southeast Michigan on the afternoon of September 14, 2021 as a cold front tracked across the region. The initial round of storms formed ahead of the front in a region of ample instability, moisture, and vertical wind shear, and prompted the issuance of a severe thunderstorm watch and several severe thunderstorm warnings. Following a brief lull in activity, another round of strong to severe storms tracked across southeast Michigan between approximately 6 and 10 PM EDT.
