Thunderstorms and Heavy Rain from the Southern Plains through the Southeast

Scattered to severe thunderstorms and heavy rain may produce hail, damaging winds, and localized flash flooding across portions of the southern Plains and Southeast. May 21, 2004 High Wind Event

 

These radar pictures show the powerful squall line that brought damaging thunderstorm wind gusts to much of the region. A person was killed when a tree fell on a car at 12:15pm in Coloma.  Two more people were killed in the same way at 1:00pm in Sturgis and also three miles north of Colon.  Three Rivers experienced 78mph winds at 12:41pm.

Hail one inch in diameter was reported one mile northwest of Fort Wayne at 1:45pm and in Decatur at 2:27pm.
