Heavy to Excessive Rainfall in the Central Appalachians; Severe Weather in the Mid-South; Hot Weather in Southern California

Heavy to excessive rainfall may lead to flooding today over southwest Pennsylvania into northern West Virginia, and western Maryland. Severe thunderstorms are possible this afternoon and evening in the Mid-South and across Eastern North Carolina. Light lake effect snows fell over the area Thursday night with parts of Berrien, Cass, and Saint Joseph Counties in Michigan receiving a few inches through 8 AM Friday, December 5th.  Heavier snow fell just to the north in Van Buren and Allegan Counties where over 4 and 8 inches of snow were reported respectively.  Below is a map and list of Thursday night's snow totals:
