Thunderstorms and Heavy Rainfall in the Mid-Atlantic; Fire Weather Concerns in the West

Thunderstorms are expected to bring heavy rain and potential significant flash and urban flooding to the Mid-Atlantic on Thursday, especially along the I-95 urban corridor. Dry conditions, gusty winds, and isolated dry thunderstorms will continue to bring a critical fire weather threat to the northwestern Great Basin into the interior Northwest through Thursday. 4 Day Lake Effect Snowfall Accumulation

Cold temperatures and persistent northwesterly flow have caused significant snowfall accumulations in areas downwind of Lake Michigan.  The map below shows total snowfall accumulations for the past 4 days.  We have received some reports of locally higher amounts, but generally 6-12 inches of snow has been common across Berrien and Cass counties in Michigan and La Porte and St. Joseph counties in Indiana.
