Severe Thunderstorms and Possible Flooding in the East; Extreme Heat in the West.

Scattered severe storms with wind damage, large hail, and a few tornadoes will be possible this afternoon and evening across much of the Mid Atlantic and Southeast. Heavy rain may cause instances of flash flooding from eastern Kentucky to southern New York. Out west, dangerous heat will develop through Saturday, with record-breaking temperatures expected. Overview

A strong spring storm system across the upper midwest, that brought up to 36" of snow to portions of North Dakota, and severe weather to parts of the central and southern plains Tuesday, blasted the western Great Lakes with wind.  Gusts in excess of 50 mph were common with some higher gusts over 60 mph across portions of  Iowa, Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana and Michigan.
