Heat Wave Expands to the East Coast; Flash Flooding Likely in the Central Plains into the Midwest; Severe Thunderstorms in the Northeast

Dangerous, prolonged heat is ongoing in the Mid-South to Mid-Mississippi Valley and heat expands into the Northeast for a brief period today. Widely scattered instances of flash flooding due to heavy rains are forecast from northeast Kansas to much of Indiana. Overview

Summary of the March 31st, 2023 Severe Weather Outbreak across Northern Indiana, Southern Lower Michigan, and Northwest Ohio. As of April 4th, 2023, we can confirm 13 tornadoes in our forecast area from this event. That is the most tornadoes in a single severe weather event since the August 24, 2016 tornado outbreak, which spawned 14 tornadoes in our forecast area.
