The National Weather Service is testing a new River Observation and Forecast Website!

For more than two decades, the National Weather Service (NWS) has delivered river observations and forecast products and services via the Advanced Hydrologic Prediction Service (AHPS). The NWS will replace AHPS with a new, enhanced website, the National Water Prediction Service (NWPS), currently scheduled for Spring 2024. Existing AHPS content and features will be preserved and expanded within NWPS.

In order to ensure NWPS delivers capabilities that meet customer and public needs, the NWS is hosting a public testing period through December 15th, 2023. The goal of this testing phase is to collect feedback from you so that the feedback can be used to ensure NWPS delivers capabilities that meet your needs. You can provide feedback here.

Some features of the new website:

  • Mobile-compatible

  • Dynamically-plotting hydrographs

  • Improved web map functionality and improved base maps and hydro-specific spatial layers

  • Application Programming Interface (API) - partners can leverage directly into their own applications

Access the public NWPS Testing Website here: National Water Prediction Service.

The National Weather Service welcomes public feedback. Please provide feedback via the Survey Monkey link here. If you have any questions or comments on this new website service, please contact: nws.northernindiana@noaa.gov
