Atmospheric River to Impact the Northwest; Windy Conditions in the Northeast

A strong atmospheric river moving into northern California later today will bring a threat for moderate to heavy rainfall and flooding, gusty to high winds, and mountain snows for parts of the Northwest U.S. through Wednesday. Severe Weather Event of December 16, 2019

A strong upper level disturbance and surface low produced several severe thunderstorms across Southwest Mississippi and portions of Southeast Louisiana to the north of I-12 during the afternoon hours of Monday December 16, 2019. There were two tornadoes reported with these severe thunderstorms as they moved across the area. The most significant tornado impacted Amite County, Mississippi.

2 tornadoes have been confirmed from this event. These tornadoes have been determined to range in strength from EF1 to EF3 after NWS storm surveys were conducted.
