A storm system will continue to produce widespread showers and thunderstorms as it progresses eastward across the central U.S. into the Northeast through the weekend. Red Cross Survey of Tornado Damage:

Van Buren
1 dead, 19 injured.
In Van Buren, 213 families were affected by the big blow. Twenty-five homes were completely destroyed; 35 others suffered major damage and 82 were damaged in a lesser degree. Fifty-four buildings other than homes were destroyed; 37 others suffered major damage and 10 suffered lesser damage. Three small businesses suffered major damage and 25 others were damaged slightly.

Fremont
6 dead, 16 injured.
At Fremont, where the tornado struck with greatest fury, 84 families were affected. Thirty homes were demolished, 20 others received major damaged and 31 others were damaged in smaller extent. Seven buildings other than homes were completely destroyed; 12 (smaller?) buildings were badly damaged, and 11 others were damaged in a lesser degree. Eight small businesses were damaged in a major degree and (four?) others received lesser damages.
