Heavy Rainfall Along the Central Gulf Coast; Thunderstorms from the Plains to the Central Appalachians; Heat Across the East

A system in the Gulf could produce heavy rainfall and flash flooding for portions of the north-central Gulf Coast into Saturday. Widespread showers and thunderstorms are likely this afternoon into Friday from Central Plains into the mid-Mississippi Valley, Ohio Valley and Central Appalachians. Overview

Rounds of showers and thunderstorms brought heavy rain and flash flooding to the region on Saturday, November 30 and Sunday, December 1. Rainfall totals of three to four inches led to flash flooding in Evansville, IN, Henderson, KY, and Owensboro, KY. Sadly, three people were killed in Bollinger County, MO, when the vehicles they were traveling in were swept off low water crossing bridges. Some of the stronger thunderstorms produced hail, with hail up to the size of quarters reported in southwestern Jackson County, IL.
