Overview

On the afternoon and evening of August 12, 2026, severe thunderstorms struck parts of southwest Indiana, southern Illinois, and southeast Missouri. An EF-1 tornado with peak winds of 110 mph caused significant damage in the town of Winslow in Pike County, IN. Later in the evening, severe thunderstorms and heavy rain brought widespread straight line wind damage to the Cape Girardean and nearby locations in southeast Missouri. Additionally, very heavy rainfall amounts of three to four inches caused flash flooding in Hamilton County, Illinois.
