Severe Thunderstorms in the Southern U.S.; Heavy Snow in the North-Central U.S.

Isolated severe thunderstorms are likely across parts of the Southeast/Deep South Tuesday morning into early evening. A couple tornadoes are possible in parts of eastern Mississippi and Alabama. In the north-central U.S., a storm will bring heavy snow and gusty to high winds over parts of the northern Plains and Upper Midwest Tuesday before impacting the Great Lakes Wednesday into Thanksgiving. Overview

Thunderstorms tracked through the Missouri Ozarks on May 27, 2021. Widespread rainfall amounts of over 1 inch occurred across much of southern Missouri. Rainfall amounts of over five inches occurred in the Joplin and Monett areas leading to widespread flooding across southern Missouri. Straight line winds also occurred with these storms and produced significant tree damage. Two brief tornadoes occurred within the larger area of straight line wind damage.
