Lingering Snow and Gusty Winds in the Southeast; Wet Weather Developing Across the Desert Southwest

A departing storm may continue to produce snow and gusty winds across portions of North Carolina through the morning commute on Friday. Later Friday and Saturday, a storm system is forecast to move into Southern California and the Desert Southwest with lower elevation rain and mountain snowfall. A strong storm system produced severe thunderstorms and a few supercells with damaging winds and hail. An EF-2 tornado hit the town of Goodman, Missouri which caused significant damage to homes and businesses. Another EF-1 tornado briefly touched down southwest of the town of Washburn, Missouri.
