Heavy Rainfall and Severe Thunderstorm Threats for the Plains and Southeast

A frontal boundary extending from the western High Plains to the Southeast will focus additional showers and thunderstorms this weekend. Some of these storms may become severe, alongside frequent lightning, and isolated instances of flash flooding. [AUG 2] Hazardous marine conditions will persist today through this evening across the offshore Atlantic waters. Elsewhere, choppy seas are expected. There is a moderate risk of rip currents for beaches along the northern coast of Puerto Rico, as well as for Culebra and Saint Croix. Las condiciones marítimas peligrosas persistirán hoy hasta esta noche en las aguas mar afuera del Atlántico. En otras zonas, se espera oleaje picado. [Aug 2nd] A moderate risk of life-threatening rip currents is expected along the beaches of northern to eastern Puerto Rico, Culebra, and St. Croix today. Breaking waves are anticipated to reach around 4 to 5 feet. Swimmers are strongly advised to exercise extreme caution, remain near a lifeguard if possible, and always adhere to local flag warning systems to ensure their safety.
