📅 Valid: Friday, December 26, 2025 into Early Next Week: A combination of marine and surf zone hazards is expected from today into early next week, including the last weekend of the year, across Puerto Rico, Culebra, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. These hazards are being driven by pulses of northerly swells and may include life-threatening rip currents, hazardous marine conditions, and dangerous surf at times. Hazard timing will vary by day. 📅 Friday, December 26, 2025 High Rip Current Risk is in effect today and tonight across Puerto Rico and Culebra, with a Moderate Risk for the U.S. Virgin Islands. Breaking waves of 4 to 7 feet will create dangerous, life-threatening rip currents, especially along exposed beaches. While today and tonight are the main concern, the risk trend continues over the next few days. Avoid entering the water at high-risk beaches and follow all beach flag warnings. | 📅 Viernes, 26 de diciembre de 2025 Un Riesgo Alto de Corrientes Marinas está vigente hoy y esta noche en Puerto Rico y Culebra, con Riesgo Moderado para las Islas Vírgenes Estadounidenses. Olas rompientes de 4 a 7 pies generarán corrientes marinas peligrosas y potencialmente mortales, especialmente en playas expuestas. Aunque el mayor riesgo es hoy y esta noche, la tendencia continúa durante los próximos días. Evite entrar al agua en playas de alto riesgo y siga las banderas de advertencia.

Astronomical winter began Sunday, with a noticeable but moderate cool-down expected across Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. From December 22 through December 26, a surface frontal boundary and a polar trough will affect the region, leading to cooler temperatures, especially during the overnight and early morning hours. The coldest period is expected from Wednesday night through Friday. Higher elevations will experience the lowest temperatures, while coastal and urban areas, as well as the islands, will remain milder due to the influence of warm surrounding waters. Although this is not an extreme cold event, the cooler conditions associated with the start of astronomical winter will be noticeable compared to recent days. | El inicio del invierno astronómico comenzó el domingo y traerá un descenso moderado, pero notable, de las temperaturas en Puerto Rico y las Islas Vírgenes de los Estados Unidos. Del 22 al 26 de diciembre, un frente superficial y una vaguada polar estarán influyendo la región, provocando temperaturas más frescas, especialmente durante las noches y madrugadas. El período más frío se espera desde la noche del miércoles hasta el viernes. Las zonas de mayor elevación registrarán las temperaturas más bajas, mientras que las áreas costeras, urbanas y las islas se mantendrán más templadas debido a la influencia de las aguas circundantes. Aunque no se trata de un evento de frío extremo, el descenso de temperaturas asociado al comienzo del invierno astronómico será perceptible en comparación con días recientes.
