A very wet weather system will impact the region Sunday night through Monday. There is a 90 to 100 percent chance of getting 0.10” or more of rain across central Idaho and western Montana. The higher chances of picking up 1 inch or more of rain is focused across Idaho and Clearwater counties in central Idaho and varies from 70-95 percent. Recent model runs are starting to show a 10-30 percent probability of 2.00” of rain through portions of Idaho County, including Grangeville. The heavy rain may cause rapid rises on area small streams, and in Idaho county may cause some small stream flooding. Main stem, large rivers across the region still have a lot of capacity available, so main stem river flooding is unlikely at this time, less than 20 percent chance. In addition, poor drainage areas will see ponding water along with rock and debris onto roadways.
A strong ridge of high pressure will begin to influence the Northern Rockies by the end of next week, bringing us the warmest temperatures of the season thus far! Keep updated with forecast changes as we near mid-week next week.
