Widespread Damaging Winds Likely in the Northern Plains; Heat Continues in the Central and Southeast U.S.

Severe thunderstorms, heavy rainfall, and flooding are possible from the northern Rockies into the Upper Midwest. Another day featuring heat headlines is in progress for all of eastern Oklahoma and western Arkansas. Expect heat index values from 105 to 109 in the Heat Advisory area, with values near to just above 110 in the Extreme Heat Warning area. Continue to practice good heat safety to avoid heat illness.
Heat index values from 105 to 109 are expected in most of eastern Oklahoma and northwest and west central Arkansas on Tuesday. A Heat Advisory is in effect from noon to 8 pm on Tuesday for all of the area.
Afternoon heat index values will climb between 100-114 degrees each day through much of this week. Some relief in the heat will come late in the week and into the upcoming weekend behind a cold front on Thursday/Friday. Continue to follow heat safety precautions to reduce the risk of heat illness.
