Dangerous Heat and Heavy Rainfall into the Weekend

Hot temperatures and high humidity are forecast to continue across the mid-Mississippi Valley into this weekend. Heat Advisories remain in effect. Heavy to excessive rainfall occurring at times through the weekend could bring areas of flooding to parts of the northern Rockies, upper Midwest, central Great Lakes, and southern New England. We're in the midst of an active stretch of weather across the region. Over the next 3 days, we'll see large weather swings including another arctic front, a surge of mild air, widespread 1 to 1.5" rain, and a wintry mix with light accumulations possible. After another cool day, very mild air and widespread rain surges in for Friday night and Saturday as temperatures climb above 60 in many spots. Temperatures then plummet through Sunday with any remaining precipitation changing to a wintry mix. Lows by Monday morning will range in the low to mid teens.
