This morning (Tuesday), we cut over to a new system that runs our All Hazards NOAA Weather Radio.

We used to run the weather radio system off a stand along PC, technology that essentially hasn't changed since 1998.  The operation of the weather radio has now been incorporated into our main Advanced Weather Interactive Processing System (AWIPS).  This is our main networked computer system all NWS offices use for our warning and forecast operations.

The only thing listeners should notice is a better voice. This system uses the NeoSpeech text-to-voice software. In these early days, the voice dictionary may be goofy at times...mispronouncing words. This all has to get tweaked over time. So, let us know if you hear something odd. Thanks. -Davis
