Storm Impacting the Southwest U.S.; Above Normal Temperatures Further East

A storm system will shift across the southwest U.S. through Thursday with widespread showers and isolated thunderstorms. Isolated flooding is possible. High-elevation snow is also expected in parts of Nevada and the southern Sierra Nevada range. The combination of gusty winds and low afternoon relative humidity values will lead to an elevated fire risk this afternoon . Be alert to the possibility of rapid fire spread and utilize good fire safety practices.
