Winter Storm in the Central Appalachians through the Northeast; Heavy Snow in the Great Basin and Rockies

A winter storm will impact the central Appalachians to the Northeast through the night. Accumulating snow is expected for interior New England and the northern Mid-Atlantic. Scattered showers and occasional thunderstorms will persist across Florida and the Southeast coast. Patchy freezing fog possible overnight tonight, mainly in higher elevations of the Plateau, ridges, and mountains. Dry Wednesday and Thursday. Precipitation chances return Thursday night, with wintry mix and snow possible across far northeastern Tennessee into southwest Virginia, with snow accumulations possible in southwest Virginia and the highest Tennessee mountain elevations. For locations across most of East Tennessee and southwest North Carolina, rain is the more likely precipitation type.
