Thunderstorms and Widespread Rainfall Across the Southern Plains

Isolated severe thunderstorms and widespread showers may produce flash flooding across the Southern Plains through Thursday. Numerous instances of flash flooding are expected in south-central Texas, including portions of the Hill Country; and an additional area across eastern Oklahoma into the Ozarks on Thursday. Isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms will develop through this evening. A few strong to severe storms are possible. The main weather hazards are lightning, large hail, and damaging winds along with heavy rain. There is a very low possibility, however, for an isolated tornado.
Heavy rainfall is expected across the Northwest Hill Country, Heartland, and Edwards Plateau is Wednesday evening through Thursday. Rainfall amounts of 2-4 inches are expected, with locally higher amounts of up to 8 inches.
There is a risk for heavy rainfall this evening through Thursday, which could lead to flooding and flash flooding. The area more at risk is over southeastern portions of the area. The highest risk is across the area from portions of Sutton and Kimble Counties and southward.
Rainfall totals could be on the heavier side with 4-6+ inches being the worst case scenario. Most locations will generally be in the 1-2 inch range.
Just a reminder with the threat of heavy rain and flash flooding possible overnight, have several ways of receiving warnings and be extra careful driving at night during flooding.
