A low pressure center tracking across the Great Lakes and its associated cold front extending across the Southern Plains will focus occasional showers and thunderstorms through tonight. A few of these thunderstorms may become severe alongside heavy rainfall that may cause flash flooding; Portions of the Southern Plains would be the greatest threat for these hazards through tonight. Severe thunderstorms are possible across the combined Panhandles this afternoon, with best chances currently focused in the Central and Eastern Panhandles. At this time, potential is present for hail up to golf ball sized (1.75 inches) with wind gusts upward of 70 mph. Make sure to have a way to receive weather warnings and check back with us for more updates.

Our severe weather trend continues for another day with current expectations seeing thunderstorms move in from the northwest early this evening. From there, look for these storms to build and progress east across the Panhandles with chances for severe weather to linger into the midnight time frame.

A low pressure system is forecast to remain across the western US early next week. This pattern will allow moisture to surge northward across the High Plains. This will lead to daily chances for heavy rainfall across the area which would likely lead to flooding and flash flooding issues. Exactly where the highest precipitation will set up and how much may fall are uncertain, but it is something to keep an eye on as we get closer to this weekend.
