Extreme Heat and Fire Weather Conditions in the West; Severe Thunderstorm Threat in the Northern Plains on Thursday

Extreme heat will may set some new daily temperature records across the Desert Southwest. Hot, dry and windy conditions and dry thunderstorms continue to bring fire weather concerns for portions of the Desert Southwest, the central Great Basin and Rockies. Heat Safety
With temperatures warming into the 100s for the second day in a row for many locations tomorrow, and with lows tonight in the upper-60s to mid-70s resulting in minimal heat relief, a Major Heat Risk is expected across much of the Panhandles with locally Extreme Heat Risk possible across portions of the central Texas Panhandles. This means there is a major to extreme risk for heat-related impacts for anyone, especially those without effective cooling and/or hydration.
