Severe Weather Across the Southeast; Fire Weather Concerns; Record Warmth for the West

Severe thunderstorms will continue today across portions of the Southeast as this system tracks offshore. Meanwhile, dry and breezy conditions will increase fire weather concerns for areas of central Florida today; The threat shifts into portions of the northern Plains on Friday. Heat Returns, Storms Possible Saturday Night
A dryline is currently expected to set up in a portion of the eastern combined Panhandles Saturday evening as a cold front moves south. Thunderstorms will be possible east of the dryline. However, there are still some uncertainties that could shift and/or increase or decrease the overall chances. Although the chance is very low, a strong to severe thunderstorm cannot be ruled out.

Temperatures will become hot next week with consecutive days in the 90s, and even the potential for some to get into the low-100s on Tuesday. Heat Risk, which attempts to define the level of heat stress on any given day using the forecast highs, lows, longevity of the heat, and it factors in seasonal acclimation. Using these factors, we are expecting a moderate Heat Risk next week with a 10-30% chance to see a major Heat Risk in the southern Texas Panhandle and along a portion of the Canadian River Valley such as Borger and Canadian.
