NOAA’s National Tsunami Warning Center, the Center responsible for warning both continental coasts of the United States and Canada, is celebrating its 50th anniversary on Saturday, September 9th from 12 p.m. - 4 p.m.  The Center's Director invites you to attend at 910 Felton Street in Palmer.

Activities:

  • tour a real-time seismic observatory
  • learn how tsunamis are generated and how the waves propagate
  • meet the scientists who stand watch and issue the warnings
  • talk to scientists and watch standers about the warning process
  • learn nature’s warning signs and how to prepare for tsunamis
