A slow-moving cold front combined with tropical moisture will result in widespread heavy showers and storms by late Thursday and linger into the weekend. Heavy rainfall may lead to flash flooding. There is still uncertainty on the timing and where the heavy rain may set up, so check back for updates!

A front will bring widespread rain chances later this week into this weekend. Between Thursday afternoon/evening to Saturday morning, widespread rainfall totals of 2-4 inches are expected, but locally higher amounts of 3-6+ inches are possible. The greatest rainfall totals are expected in western counties (Zapata, Jim Hogg, Starr). Heavy rain can lead to flash flooding, especially in poor drainage, low-lying, and urban areas.

Another hot afternoon is in store today across Deep South Texas with widespread heat indices in the triple digits. If spending time outdoors, be sure to stay hydrated and take steps to avoid heat illness.

Warm temperatures and a moderate risk of rip currents are forecast for area beaches today.

Hot temperatures will continue through Thursday. Unsettled weather returns by late Thursday and continues into the weekend, bringing widespread rain chances and cooler temperatures. Locally heavy rainfall may result in flash flooding.
