A Fire Danger Statement is in effect for Jim Hogg, Starr, and Brooks counties from 12-6 PM Thursday for breezy winds and lower humidity across areas of severe to exceptional drought conditions. Burning of any kind should be avoided and strongly discouraged.
Stay firewise this week with an increasing wildfire threat expected due to low humidity and breezy winds each afternoon. Remember, nearly all wildfires are preventable!
Above normal temperatures continue, with an increased chance of rain Saturday night through Sunday night, mainly across the ranchlands. Rain chances diminish from the ranchlands (55-80%) south to the RGV (25-55%). Stay positive, let's not scare it away!
