A squall line may approach or pass through portions or all of deep south Texas late tonight, bringing the potential for scattered severe thunderstorms to northern Zapata and Jim Hogg counties as well as isolated severe thunderstorms for the remainder of our region. Damaging winds (58+ mph) are the main threat for any severe storm, though large hail (1+ inch) and heavy rain are possible as well.

There is as much as a low to medium (30-60%) chance of showers and thunderstorms capable of producing heavy rain late tonight into tomorrow, leading to a Marginal Risk (Level 1 of 4) of excessive rainfall. Isolated flash flooding or ponding on the roadways are possible.

In addition to the potential for heavy rain tonight and tomorrow, a Marginal Risk (level 1 of 4) of excessive rainfall continues Thursday into Saturday across deep south Texas in association with a front stalling to our north. Rainfall over this time period will most likely be between 1 to 2 inches, with locally heavier amounts of 3 to 4 inches or more possible. Continue to check back for updates to the forecast.

A High Risk of Rip Currents continues along local beaches through early this evening.
